How do you -know-? Life is often pretty damn bad. Maybe it's the limitations of my imagination speaking, but i can't really imagine death being worse than the cruel savageries of being alive.

The unknown can be anything. Hell or heaven. Worse or better. Torment or bliss. Not that I believe in Hell or torment. But that's the point, it's unknown. Once you go, you can't take it back and try again if it does turn out to be worse. Final solutions to temporary problems, and all that.

There is a phrase coined by Emil Mercer on this subject I rather like. It is neatly succinct.
